My Reason Why

One of my earliest memories is of my grandfather pulling out an old guitar.

I was only four years old, but I fell in love with the sound it made. For the next five years, I begged my parents for a guitar of my own. When they finally got me one at age nine, I taught myself to play.

I would practice until my fingers hurt so badly that I couldn’t press down the strings anymore. Even then, I would keep picking at them, trying to play. That guitar became an extension of me.

Growing up, I was shy. We didn’t have much money, and I was picked on at school. After a while, the names other kids called me started echoing in my head, and I began questioning who I was.

But when I played guitar, none of that mattered. Music gave me a place to escape and a way to express everything I couldn’t put into words.

I became a Christian at 12, and God met me in that struggle. He surrounded me with people who accepted me and with musicians who helped me grow. Music became more than something I loved. It became a calling and a way to offer something back to Him.

I’m Corey Oxford, and this is my fundraising campaign.

Up Til Now

I started writing songs in my teens and have written hundreds since then. Today, I still write a couple of songs every month, with around 50 that I hope to record over the next several years.

In 2025, I released my debut album, Southern Blood. Songs from that record have received airplay on KSSN 96’s Homegrown Country, Sky Blue Radio, B2 Internet Radio, Rock Rage Radio, Brew Rage Radio and most recently The Tim Kelly Show on KICR Indie Country Radio.

Along the way, I’ve reached the top 10 in the Great Arkansas Talent Search, the quarterfinals of America’s Top Hitmaker, and finished 14th out of 600 artists in the international You God’s Music competition, where I also helped raise more than $10,000 for my music and my church.

I’ve also had opportunities to perform at festivals throughout Arkansas, most recently appearing before around 800 people at AMPLIFY the River Valley alongside Tru Serva, Cliff Preston, Magdalene Rose, and Seventh Day Slumber.

I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished, but I believe I’m only getting started.

The Next Step

I’ve worked hard, built a life, and raised a family while refusing to let go of this dream. My kids are my biggest fans, and I want them to see that the things we’re called to do are worth fighting for.

Now I’m raising the money to professionally record and release the next chapter of my music. Your support will help pay for the musicians, studio time, production, mixing, mastering, artwork, and promotion required to give these songs the chance they deserve.
